The Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQi) is the world's leading scientifically validated assessment tool for measuring social and emotional intelligence. The EQ-i 2.0 is a measure designed for individuals, while the 360 version provides feedback about leader EI from multiple vantage points.

EQ-i 2.0

Key benefits:

  • Turns abstract emotional processes into concrete, measurable data

  • Uncovers strengths that can be used to drive change

  • Evaluates interactions between key domains that can result in problematic styles (e.g., low empathy + high assertiveness)

  • Organizations use it to build managers who communicate better, leading to higher team morale and lower turnover.

The EQ-i 2.0 is a self-reporting assessment used to evaluate how well a person perceives, expresses, and manages emotions, as well as how they cope with daily challenges. It assess attitudes and functioning over 5 domains (with subscales):

  1. Self-perception: Self-regard, Self-actualization, Self-awareness

  2. Self-expression: Emotional expression, Assertiveness, Independence

  3. Interpersonal skills: Relationships, Empathy, Social Responsibility

  4. Decision-making: Problem-solving, Reality testing, Impulse control

  5. Stress management: Flexibility, Stress tolerance, Optimism

EQ 360

Key benefits:

  • Strictly anchored to a psychometrically validated model of emotional intelligence (the Bar-On/MHS model), whereas most standard corporate 360s only measure generic company competencies.

  • While a standard 360 tells you what executive skills you are missing, the EQ 360 uncovers the deep emotional and behavioral mechanics causing those gaps.

  • Allows development of a personalized development plan targeting specific leadership sub-domains

The EQ 360 takes the exact same 15 subscales of the EQ-i 2.0 and blows them open to include external feedback. It is the ultimate tool for uncovering blind spots because it compares how you see yourself with how the world actually experiences you. Ratings are taken from self, peers, managers and direct reports (3 needed in each group for anonymity).

One of the special features of the EQ 360 is the Gap Analysis Report, which generates side-by-side visual graphs to compare responses across various groups of raters, and individual raters. This can help to reveal blind spots, or hidden strengths, as well as profile dissonance across different types of roles (e.g., a leader who is empathic with peers, but not direct reports).
